After the Ayer’s Cliff Rodeo
It’s Monday morning. I am sitting now with my coffee, having just returned from serving breakfast at the local elementary school. My family spent the weekend at the Ayer’s Cliff Rodeo, displaying my new colouring book and paintings for sale.
I really enjoyed talking with people who appreciated my work. A had a lot of questions about the paintings I do with thick acrylic paint and spatula knives. As they saw the wildlife and sceneries in my I heard many stories about the turtles and herons that other people had seen, or their adventures in the sugar bush as children in the area.
An eleven year old girl passed by the stall, and her eyes lit right up when she saw my work. A future artist was in my midst for sure. That made my day.
One person looked at my book and was so keen to get it so he could try to draw the animal on the opposite page. Many just marveled at the photos at the back of the book, with all the rich variety of Quebec wildlife. They turned they pages and expressed, “What a lot of work”.
With the Rodeo behind us, it’s time to resume my classic life of family, art and housework. The laundry has to be hung, the grass mowed, and the garden weeded. There’s a painting that needs to be finished by Wednesday, and I’ll grab the chance to fit in a walk. I’ll also take the time for my daily devotions, to build myself up so I can do whatever I am called to do. It’s suppose to be extremely hot and muggy today so maybe I’ll get a few minutes in the pool.
Will I get all that done today? Probably not, but I can promise you that it will still be there tomorrow.
